from the genus Phyllanthus, Terminalia, Gardenia, Geranium, Erodium orTamarix.

1 1 . (Previously presented) The composition of claim 9, wherein the hydrolyzable tannin
is obtained from Phyllanthus emblica (syn. Emblica officinalis), Phyllanthus amanis, Phyllanthus
flexusus, other Phyllanthus species, Terminalia bellerica, other Terminalia species, Erodium
pelagonium, Geranium thumbergi, Tamarix aphyla or other Tamarix species.

complex is prepared by reacting a trivalcnl chromium salt with a phenolic antioxidant(s).

18. (Original) The composition of claim 17, wherein the phenolic antioxidant-chromium
complex is prepared by reacting chromium chloride, acetate or formate with a phenolic
antioxidant(s) in an aqueous system.

19. (Original) The composition of claim 1 8, wherein the phenolic antioxidant-chromium
complex is prepared by reacting chromium chloride, acetate or formate with low molecular
weight tannins having a molecular weight below 2,000.

20. (Previously presented) The composition of claim 17, wherein the phenolic
antioxidant-chromium complex is prepared by reacting chromium chloride, acetate or formate
wjth phenolic antioxidant from purified Shilajit in an aqueous system.

21. (Original) The composition of claim 17, wherein the phenolic antioxidant-chromium
complex is obtained by spray, freeze, tray or vacuum drying.

22. (Original) A formulation of the composition of claim 1, wherein the phenolic
antioxidant-chromium complex is combined with a pharmaceutical^ or nutritionally acceptable
excipicnt.

active ingredient.

in the complex is from 1 to 8% of the complex.

administering to a mammal the composition of claim 1.

diabetic condition.

antioxidant-chromium complex has 10 to 1,000 pg of chromium content,

antioxidant-chromium complex is prepared by dry blending.

32. (Previously presented) The composition of claim 31, wherein the chromium is
derived from chromium chloride, acetate, formate, picolinatc, nicotinate or polynicotioate.

33. (Previously presented) The composition of claim 31, wherein the phenolic
antioxidant is oxygenated dibenzo-a-pyrone (DBP) 7 a DBP conjugate or fulvic acid of purified
Shilajjt.

antioxidant-chromium complex has 10 to 1,000 pg of chromium and is combined with a
